About Otter Homecare
Having grown up in Wiltshire, I spent my 20s and 30s living and working in Thailand. It was during my time there that I came face-to-face with a culture that approached care differently - with the upmost respect for the elderly and strong family and community involvement.
In Thailand it is common practice for family and friends to rally around their loved ones in need, providing care at home, with the idea of using care homes unheard of.
Upon my return to the UK, I applied this perspective to my own family situation. After my father unexpectedly suffered a severe stroke, it seemed natural for us to care for him at home where he could be surrounded by familiar faces.
Acting as my father's primary caregiver and supervising his care support team opened my eyes to the amazing benefits of an empathetic and human-focused approach to Homecare.
These insights and experiences led to the creation of Otter Homecare. Our mission is simple: we aim to provide care with the same degree of respect and compassion I observed in Thailand, serving those in need within our local communities in Wiltshire and Somerset.
