Otter Homecare team updates
We have added three new Care Professionals to our team this month who you may have seen out and about in the community. They include... Fran, Becky and Danielle. They are all experienced in providing high quality, person-centred care and we feel lucky to have them on our team.
We also celebrate Cherie stepping into the role of Care Manager. Her leadership and commitment to excellence will be tremendous assets to Otter Homecare going forward.

Introducing Cherie
Cherie brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role of Care Manager and I thought it would be useful to ask her a few questions so we can get to know her a bit better.
What got you into care in the first place?
The reason I got into care was because I spent the majority of my childhood with my grandparents. My nan has always been my role model and I seen her look after her neighbours with such care and attention. It just made me want to look after people the way she did.
What do you think are the key aspects of a really well-run home care organisation?
I think dedication, communication and honesty are the key aspects. It’s not just a job, it’s making a difference to peoples lives that come first.
Do you have any tips for Care Professionals on how they can go about making a really good connection with their clients?
Just be yourself. Take the time to listen to a service users wants, likes and dislikes. Treat that person as if you were caring for your own family member.
What’s the most rewarding part of your day working with our team and clients?
Just knowing that one small task you have completed for a client could make such a big impact and help them in their daily lives. That makes coming to work a lot easier.
Physio tips with Pettemerides Personal Training
We are excited to announce our new partnership with Pettemerides Personal Training to further support our clients with their physical conditioning and overall well-being. Based in Bathford and led by Helen, their team of qualified personal trainers specialises in working with older adults, particularly those living with medical conditions such as osteoporosis, back pain, and neurological issues.
Over the coming months, we’ll be offering complimentary one-off sessions with Helen and her team, where clients can receive tailored advice and exercises to meet their specific needs. We believe this partnership will add real value to our clients, helping to improve their strength, balance, and overall health.
In addition, we’ve invited the team from Pettemerides to share practical tips and exercises through our Community Connect newsletter, providing you with ongoing guidance to support your physical well-being.
This month's top tip from Helen:
"Research shows that those between 60 and 70 may have lost 12% of their muscle mass, and by 80, up to 30%. This muscle loss can affect strength and mobility, but regular exercise, especially strength training, can slow or even reverse it."
